Thu 2/3 - 30 minutes easy

Putter around Levittown. SI joint and hammie still feeling like garbage, of course. The run ended with a visit to the PT office, where I found that for the second time in last 18 months the left SI joint was completely locked up. Not sure exactly when it got stuck, could have been back in August, or at the mini meet last month, or some time in between. Whatever the case, having it released (that included a truly impressive popping sound) left me feeling like a new man. Amazing how much my overall mood changed, as I wasn't seeing any light at the end of the tunnel. Hamstring is feeling much better as it's no longer being yanked out of whack.

Wed 2/2 - off

Circling the drain. Treadmill would have been the only option today. After two rounds of shoveling white lead and with the left hammie feeling like crap as per usual, no desire whatsoever to pick at the scab again. Heading back to square one, indoor season a stillborn clusterfuck this time. The change in status from even two weeks ago, let alone a month ago, leaves me shaking my head. Things went downhill fast. All this coincides with what has become the worst winter in 15 years for snow and road conditions, yippee.

Tue 2/1 - PM 40 minutes

5.5 miles on the treadmill, with a break at the 20 minute mark. Thoroughly discouraging run, as it became clear once the speed got up over 8.5 mph that the left hammie is a total mess. Spent the break doing compressions on the stool, and upon finishing went back to the stool and lacrosse ball for more. It simply won't get unstuck. Having been so obsessed of late with the glute and SI joint, it became clear that the root of the problem, what's dragging everything else down along with it, is the hamstring. Feels like it's gotten worse not better since last Wednesday's ill-advised workout, even though running has been sporadic at best since then. Driven to use the treadmill by atrocious road conditions with more snow on the way, of course.

Mon 1/31 - off

all my free time sucked up by car hell, incl. driving to and from Canton at rush hour to buy the new onw and waiting almost 4 hours for the tow truck to come for the now-defunct car and take it 300 yards down the road from the shop to my driveway. In hindsight I could have gone for a run but a series of wildly inaccurate predicted arrival times had me waiting instead. A hearty fuck you to Pro-Tech towing of Waltham. Had I been stuck on the side of the road somewhere I might have frozen to death. I'll be happy if I get in a run every other day this week, and between the transportation headaches and the awful, awful weather forecast even that might be optimistic. Not to mention the ongoing leg issues, still tight of course even though I've run so little lately.

Sun 1/30 - AM 30 minutes easy

jog over to rent a car, first day of the hell of finding a permanent replacement. Within 5 minutes of starting the run the left SI joint felt sore, pinched and tight. Glutes, hip extensors, whatever attaches to the rear surface of the ilium is tight as a drum. Did some direct pressure on that area and while it felt productive, I'm sure it'll be just as tight tomorrow. Very discouraging situation, hip stuck in a vise.

Sat 1/29 - off

A horrid day, and not just because my car broke down on the way to the meet when the clutch finally gave up the ghost (something I should have seen coming weeks ago, hindsight 20/20). Had I made it to the meet, I'm reasonably convinced it would have been a DNF, as the left leg continues to feel like utter crap. Multiple rounds of compressions, and I keep finding areas of adhesion here there and everywhere along the length of the hammie. Upper glute attachments and TFL tight as a fucking drum as well. I could have used a run to blow off steam after getting the car towed back home, but by that point I'd had enough for one day.
