Mon 3/14 - PM 30 minutes, treadmill

Horrendous weather conditions with driving rain and temps under 40 degrees combined with a far too late start following a far too long afternoon nap made the treadmill the only option. A detestable one at that. Started at 7 mph and ticked up to 10 by the end and got off the thing.

Sun 3/13 - PM 95 minutes very easy

Lincoln woods. Predictably dinged up after yesterday's big volume day and afternoon workout. Started out with the CH for a tour of Mount Misery, perhaps not the best spot for easy running given the steep hills. From there, went for an easy putter around Walden and across the street to Pine Hill and back cutting out the Sandy Pond trail entirely. Another nice day to be outside.

Sat 3/12 - double, 2 hours total incl. 2x1600, 3200, 2x1600

AM - 45 minutes very easy. Originally the plan was to do a workout in the morning but too close to yesterday afternoon's run to pull it off. Also feeling flat and tired to a greater degree than expected. Instead, went for an easy putter with the CH around the streets of Maynard and into the fringes of Area 51. A bit breezy but overall another nice morning.

PM - 75 minutes, Longfellow Loop incl. 2x1600, 3200, 2x1600. Three times around the loop with the first and third laps being broken up into two reps with the middle lap being the longer one. After sleeping away much of the afternoon, got started a bit on the late side. Had some doubts as to whether or not I'd be able to pull off this particular session given how flat and lackluster most of the running (never mind any actual training) has been of late. This led to a relatively conservative start to the first two 1600s. From there I was able to get the rest of it done without undue straining, although doing anything more would have been a reach. Splits:

5:47
5:51
11:45 (5:53/5:52)
5:41
5:46

400m jogs after each 1600, except for the first one when I had trouble finding the line on the road which has faded out almost completely and dithered for an extra 30 seconds or so as a result. 800m jog after the 3200 which came in around 3.5 minutes. Cool conditions, some breeze but overall as favorable as one could hope for in mid-March.

Fri 3/11 - 80 minutes

Lincoln woods. Same duration as the other day, different route this time though as I went on the Mount Misery side to Walden before heading back. Like the other day, feeling good basically from the start and had to take care not to overdo it on the pace with a workout coming tomorrow. Not as warm as the other day either but still very nice day to be outside for this time of year.

Thu 3/10 - PM 65 minutes easy

Area 51. Back to the dysfunctional routine of Monday and Tuesday with a much too long afternoon nap pushing the run into the evening darkness. Persistent rain showers not helping any either. Felt worn down and sluggish from the get go, right leg tweaked a bit particularly the belly of the hamstring. Did some rolling on the IT band and iliacus before heading out which helped. Ran five short hill repeats on Thompson near the end of the run, not timed or measured in any way.
