4/28/17

Thu 4/27 - PM 80 minutes

Lincoln woods. The clouds broke briefly in the afternoon for the first time in days. Promptly clouded over again but temperature much warmer and quite sticky conditions. Stride somewhat herky-jerky but a stretch break halfway through helped with the calf stiffness. Finished moving along at a good pace, feeling pretty good about myself but then the soreness in the right hip and QL set in. From favoring the calf of course.

Wed 4/26 - PM 65 minutes easy

Summer St. to Track road. Less rain than yesterday but still fairly miserable, at least it was warm enough for outdoor recreation.

Tue 4/25 - 60 minutes elliptigo trainer

Weather went down the drain in the afternoon and only got worse from there. Cold enough that I had zero interest setting foot outside. Finished with 8x1 minute at highest resistance and a bit more turnover. Hopefully avoided aggravating the calf further.

Mon 4/24 - 55 minutes very easy

Wellesley. Back to jogging. I'm actually doing some stretching and modest core work again though. Maybe in a few months I'll be able to resume something resembling actual training again.

Sun 4/23 - AM 65 minutes incl. 2x1600

Aborted and ill-conceived attempt to do a workout on the Longfellow loop. Ran the first 1600 in 5:50, a bit of stiffness in the calf, jogged 400m and the thing buckled on me 3/4 of the way into the second one. Hobbyjogged it in from there. The level of delusion and ignorance is impressive.

4/12 - 4/22 jogging

Stuck in limbo waiting (in vain it seems) for the fucked up calf to get better. Incapable of taking a break or doing anything proactive to deal with the conditions that led to this state of affairs, but puttering around at a slow crawl I can do. Most runs between 45 and 90 minutes. Two or three times I felt good enough to pick up the pace somewhat. Spring racing plans have evaporated.
