Fri 1/15 - PM 70 minutes incl. 6x100

45 minute warmup, over to the river and back via corridor park. Drills and then 6x100 with 100 jog. Overdid it with the faster stuff. Worried about LG/quad tendinitis all day at work, that felt fine during the run but first the right and then the left hip flexor were bothersome on the strides. The left side strain from two weeks ago reared its ugly head again, still tweaked. Not that it should be a surprise, although the degree to which the core is weak and susceptible to aggravation is mind-boggling. Can't imagine how I ever was able to run at speed for any sustained length of time. Slow to steady running not a problem, of course. Change agonizingly slow in coming.

Thu 1/14 - off

LG attachment tendinitis in full bloom, although I may be calling it by the wrong name. Could very well be more of a quad thing (sartorius, VMO). Whatever the case, inflamed and tight. Relieved somewhat by stretching.

Wed 1/13 - PM 75 minutes easy

Longfellow Loop incl. McMansionville to Ruddock. Today's run was the relaxed effort yesterday's should have been. I had ample motivation to take it easy in that the LG was tight and sore all day at work and I didn't want to further aggravate it. Loosened up quickly during the run and felt okay the rest of the way. Hip flexors on both sides not a problem, although right side got a little fatigued by the end. Pace started very easy, picked up some after that, enough so that I stalled out somewhat around 50 minutes. Lack of underlying fitness will do that. Cold but not very windy, somewhat pleasant compared to yesterday.

1/12 - 45 minutes

6m on the treadmill, 7 to 9 mph. By the time I was able to get started, the prospect of heading outside was none too appealing. Planned on an easy relaxed day, but set the speed a bit too high on the treadmill for that as it turns out. Left psoas nowhere near as stiff after sitting at my desk as it was yesterday, but feeling the right adductor. Sore but not debilitating. Remains to be seen if running w/o orthotics will be doable in the long term.

Mon 1/11 - PM 50 minutes

Levittown. Left hip got sore as hell with prolonged time spent sitting at my desk at work, stiffness that would resolve itself with a brief walk down the hall. This has to be the psoas stiffening up, had me a bit on edge for the run though. Started off tentatively, everything felt good and thus the pace got quicker and quicker. Finished something like a progression run, feeling as good as any run in the most recent comeback attempt. Right leg not bothering me during the run, although there was some stiffness afterward in the adductor. How it feels tomorrow will tell a lot.

Sun 1/10 - double, 85 minutes total

AM - 40 minutes very easy, Summerhill to Tiger Drive. Stiff sore and creaky, esp. psoas on both sides. LG attachment not unduly sore though which is encouraging after yesterday's run sans orthotics. Quite cold but little wind.

PM - 45 minutes, Tiger Drive to Old Marlboro and Greenwood. Some tightness in the hips but overall felt much better than in the morning. Moving at a decent pace the second half of the run.

Sat 1/9 - PM 70 minutes

Longfellow Loop incl. Mossman, Loker and McMansionville. Moving pretty well for the first 45 minutes, then ran out of gas. Core held together well enough, anxiously awaiting twinges on either side the second half of the run. Left SI joint still sore, TFL tight. Ditched the orthotics for today, they were feeling so cumbersome. Hopefully the right LG attachment won't react adversely to this, we'll see tomorrow. Cold and windy all day.
