Sat 2/25 - PM 45 minutes elliptigo trainer

All I had timr for at the end of a day of travel. Good to get in some exercise and a nice way to blow off some steam. Trainer as smooth as it always is.

Fri 2/24 - double, 95 minutes total

AM - 30 minutes very easy. Along the riverwalk in San Antonio. Seems to be about the only place worth going for a run in the downtown area. Nice conditions although already a bit warm in keeping with the overall weather pattern of late in these parts.

PM - 65 minutes, along the lake path. Another trip to the local supermarket like Tuesday. Moving well towards the end. Last run in Texas before a long day of travel tomorrow.

Thu 2/23 - PM 65 minutes

Out and back in the godforsaken hellhole of Selma TX, in record high temps no less. Flat, hot and dusty, on a road with no shoulder to speak of for pedestrian traffic. Glad to get it over with needless to say. Did a few short pickups at the end.

Wed 2/22 - AM 65 minutes including 8x 3 minute pickups

Back and forth along the lake path, with a good chunk of it along the boardwalk. Which is concrete but smooth and flat which was suitable for what I wanted to accomplish. Recovery interval of 1 minute throughout required some degree of discretion especially starting out. Hot even for this neck of the woods, finished up just as it was really starting to get warm.

Tue 2/21 - AM 80 minutes

Austin, along the "lake" path with a 15 minute shopping break in the middle. The lake is in fact a river and the path is a nice one, mostly flat. Downhill stretch at the beginning to get from hotel to river which was an uphill on the way back. Moving quicker than I had planned or expected for much of the run thanks to having a bike escort for much of it. Made the trip back with 10+ pounds of groceries which was predictably a slog.

Mon 2/20 - AM 50 minutes elliptigo trainer

Early wakeup call in order to get in some time on the trainer before a day of traveling. Typical rotation among 5th through 8th gear.

Sun 2/19 - AM 90 minutes

Roads through S. Acton and on to Stow. An easy hour of puttering followed by an increasingly insistent final 30 minutes heading in. Not expecting to be able to have any kind of juice for the tail end of the run but pleasantly surprised.

2/26/17

Sat 2/18 - AM 55 minutes incl. 8k threshold run

Longfellow loop. Rolled through the first mile too fast which set the tone for the entire thing, despite trying to modulate the effort over the rest of the way. Much more like a time trial than a tempo run, but encouraging nonetheless as I had no idea what if any fitness remained after everything fell to pieces at the end of January. Continued warm conditions but obnoxiously windy as well. Splits:

5:40/5:46/2:46
5:45/5:48/2:44

The hope is to be able to do three and four loops at a more controlled effort in the next 4-6 weeks, we'll see how that plays out.
