7/3/10

Fri 7/2 - PM 30 minutes

evening shakeout on the NMH campus. No time for anything more, got a late start as it was after driving out after work. Forgot how time-consuming it is to pack the car and get across the state. The afternoon nap I had been taking all week went by the boards and I was dead tired as a result by the time I started running. Balls of both feet appreciated wearing shoes with more forefoot cushioning today after the repeated stepping on rocks of the past few days.

Thu 7/1 - PM 70 minutes plus 20 minutes in Walden

Legs feeling better, but still tired overall completely due to late bedtimes. Finding it extremely difficult to get to bed at a decent hour, finding myself stuck doing errands every evening after coming home from the day's run. After stepping on a rock with my right foot and having the ball of that foot be sore for hours afterward, I stepped on a rock with the left foot today and it felt more sore and tender than the right one did yesterday. Not pleased, could be simply that the trail shoes are worn out and no longer offering even the minimal protection they once did.

7/1/10

Wed 6/30 - PM 80 minutes plus 20 minutes in Walden

Feeling a little better, although that may be in large part due to the crisp dry weather. Legs do feel like they're coming around somewhat as well, less soreness on downhills. The clear dry weather came with a stiff westerly breeze which made for roiling swells on the pond, or what passes for them anyway. Bobbing all over the place.

Tue 6/29 - PM 90 minutes plus 20 minutes in Walden

Something of a slog thanks to continued tiredness and humidity. Legs coming around but still feeling tender on descents, and heavy overall. Still able to complete the planned length of time for the day however.

Mon 6/28 - PM 70 minutes plus 20 minutes in Walden

Predictably dead tired after yesterday's travel. Between that and the sore legs from Saturday's descent, went very easy at first, felt better than expected in the last third of the run. Right foot doing fine in different shoes, blister not a problem after I lanced it and the welt on the instep looks worse than it is. Disgusting humidity, deer flies buzzing, welcome back to sea level. Eagerly anticipated getting to the pond and it didn't disappoint.

6/28/10

Sun 6/27 - AM 75 minutes very easy

along the creek path at a crawl. Pace picked up slightly the last 30 minutes but not by much. Finally got a relatively decent night's sleep. Quads predictably sore and tender, but the real toll of yesterday's descent from Barr Camp was on my right foot, and due to the fact that my right shoe is a little bit too big for the foot inside it. Nasty-looking red welt on the instep and a large blister on the end of the big toe as a result. This didn't keep me from running but the blister did increase in size over the course of the day after the run. Last run in Denver (for 3 weeks), back to sea level and humidity.
