Fri 3/13 - PM 65 minutes easy

Mostly failed attempt to run on the trails in Walden woods, open areas exposed to sun are clear sailing but anything in the shade is still a hockey rink. Not that I should have expected any different. Feeling tired all day at work and the run was no different, low energy level. Pace closer to Wednedsay's run than yesterday's, and nothing to write home about. Continued cold with obnoxious wind, sun isn't high enough to moderate the air mass very much. A string of seasonable days would be most welcome at this point.

Thu 3/12 - PM 80 minutes easy

River Street to Stow Road, back via White Pond with an ill-advised attempt at using Track Road which was a quarter-mile long hockey rink in the shade of the hill. Very nearly ruptured my adductor muscle slipping on it. Other than that unwelcome episode the run went smoothly, moving a little better than yesterday with the calf soreness gone. Right hip still bothersome though. Obnoxiously cold and windy too.

Wed 3/11 - PM 1:40 very easy

Longfellow loop, with an extension into McMansionville and Mossman. Laughin' scratchin' easy. Or borin' scratchin' easy to be more accurate. Some soreness in both soleus muscles, other than that just the usual post-workout day heavy-legged feeling. Relatively mild today, feeling the urge to check out the trails in Area 51 but they're still not runnable. Still feeling the effects of the timeshift.

Tue 3/10 - PM RLTAC 70 minutes incl. 1600, 3(4x400)

Solid workout despite still feeling both the soreness in right hip flexor/adductor and lingering fatigue from the recent timeshift.

I had doubts about my ability to hit the proposed time range for the initial 1600 w/o racing but the pace was sustainable throughout. Short recovery time between the 400s (1 minute) got tiresome esp. near the end, and required some scaling back of the proposed times to boot. Slowed down the second set so I could get through all 12 rather than stop after 2 sets of straining to run 68s. Middle set still a bit too fast for my tastes but I only led half of them. Finished it off relaxed but pretty wiped out as well. Cooldown a slow crawl inside.

Mon 3/9 - PM 45 minutes easy

circuitous route around Dedham, both the scenic and dingy parts. Wind-driven heavy wet snow ranged in intensity from annoying to obnoxious. Unable to run more or else I would have. Calves not as sore today as they've been the last few days. Daylight savings time not treating me well, took forever to fall asleep last night and dragging all day as a result.

Sun 3/8 - PM 85 minutes easy

At times it was very easy in fact. River Street to Red Acre, back via White Pond and Main Street. Soleus twinging on both sides from yesterday's run (and too-short cooldown), other than that just the usual post-workout soreness. Very mild and agreeable day, brought everyone out of their caves, but still cool enough for hat and gloves by the time I got around to running myself.

Sat 3/7 - double, 1:50 total

AM - 45 minutes easy shakeout, Tiger Drive to Old Marlboro Rd and Old Mill. Right hip not stuck as much as it has been the past few days. Much warmer already today.

PM - 65 minutes, Longfellow Loop, incl. 2x20 minute threshold runs. Got right into it after a brief 10 minute warmup. I was hoping to be able to change gears every 5 minutes, successful on the whole. Left some room to pick it up early on. Hip was sticking at first but felt better as time wore on. Some incipient stomach issues at the start of the second rep but it held off thankfully, no pit stop needed. Cooled off from the afternoon but still as warm as it's been this season. Cooldown even shorter than the warmup, wanted to get started on dinner ASAP.
