Fri 4/27 - PM 65 minutes incl. 8x1000

Back to the track even though I'd promised myself I would stay off it today and do this session on the Longfellow loop. Got started late after errands and a nap. Much like Tuesday, under those circumstances as dusk approaches it becomes impossible to resist the oval. Windy all day, blustery from the NW so I knew I'd be getting crushed by it no matter where I did the workout. Given the races coming up on Sunday, chose to stick with 8 reps, not that I had the energy or motivation to do more than that anyway. Of course, ran the reps such that I got the tailwind three times FWIW. Nothing spectacular about the splits but I have to wonder what the numbers would have been on a more still evening:

3:28, 3:25.6, 3:26.7, 3:26.4, 3:26.7, 3:26.9, 3:25, 3:24

stopped checking splits after the second rep, running on feel and seeing what that brought me at the end. Wind picked up even more on the final two reps, I ratcheted up the effort in response, and without meaning to the splits were faster for those two. Recovery jogs mostly 59-61, last one was 63 though.

Thu 4/26 - PM 85 minutes easy

Lincoln Woods, with drills on Pine Hill. I had toyed with the idea of doing a threshold workout today but given the late bedtimes the past couple of nights chose to put it off a day instead. Some stiffness in left heel which took a good long while to work itself out. The weather pattern continues along, overcast and blustery. Won't be missed when it finally leaves.

Wed 4/24 - PM 45 minutes easy

Along the Charles. No time to run longer or I would have. Went for a leisurely stroll a little later on as well which was nice. Windy and overcast again, threatening rain much of the day but held off, more or less.

Tue 4/24 - PM 60 minutes incl. 15x200, 400

Late, late start getting out the door, combined with tiredness made me decide to switch out a longer, slower workout for what is becoming a standby shorter track session of repeat 200s with revolving 300/200/100 recovery jogs. Not really expecting much but it went well nonetheless. Average time by set was 37.2, 36.2, 36.3, 35.8, 35.8. I wasn't checking the times while doing them, just hitting the button so this came as something of a surprise. Didn't feel like the splits were getting any faster. Recoveries fairly constant except for the 300 jogs which went from 81 to 75. Final 400 of 72.8. Overall time was 23:20, definitely a PR for this workout although the previous times I've done it have been under much less favorable conditions. There was some wind out there today, more of a cross direction than the usual headwind on the back straight. On the cool side as well.

Mon 4/23 - PM 60 minutes easy

Lincoln woods. The bill came due from Saturday's race and yesterday's travel, feeling flat and lethargic. Windy and overcast, not cold but cool and obnoxious overall. The day after getting back from a week at altitude, and I was sucking wind on every uphill of course.

Sun 4/22 - AM 60 minutes easy

Washington Park in Denver. Last run in Colorado, for four months at least. In need of an easy effort on flat terrain and this fit the bill. Started out quite slowly, picked up the pace about halfway through when I realized the route might take longer than I had anticipated. Still a controlled effort. Sunny and dry, completely different from what was waiting when I landed in Boston.
