8/21/15

Thu 8/20 - PM 30 minutes in Walden

I had hoped to ride the elliptigo over but unable to get the damn thing fixed in time to do so. Back in the water of course.

Wed 8/19 - 60 minutes in Walden

Long, long time to be flopping around in the water. Felt like I got some kind of workout at least but it got a bit old. Toe remains a swollen mess, although the buddy taping helps. Nice to escape the muggies at least.

Tue 8/18 - 40 minutes in Walden

Broken toe at work puts the kibosh on running for the time being. To say it sucks would be a massive understatement. Aquajogging and elliptigo (assuming I get it fixed anytime soon) and maybe bike for the next couple weeks.

Mon 8/17 - off

Thought I was going to do some light jogging in Watertown but it went by the boards. No motivation whatsoever and feeling it from the past two days. Disgustingly oppressive humidity, which shows no sign of going anywhere anytime soon, didn't help.

8/17/15

Sun 8/16 - AM 1:45

Northfield/Winchester. Up and over Burt Hill and Schofield Mountain before ending up at the TV tower. Overall a much more satisfying effort than last Sunday's dawdle. Started late enough that it became fairly hot but the humidity wasn't so oppressive as to make the second half of the run that much harder than the first. In fact the entire run went rather smoothly other than the thudding descent off Schofield which felt awkward most every step.

Sat 8/15 - double, 2:05 total

AM - 1:40, Northfield. Rollercoaster ride from the library to the top of South Mountain road, with a side trip up and over Birch Point and along the powerlines to start things off. The idea was to maximize climbing and in that respect the run was a success. Held a bit back early on so as to have something left for the final push up Old Wendell, which was just as rugged and rocky as I had remembered it. Steady rain shower at the start of the run, by the time I got to the reservoir the skies were clearing and finished in sunny warm conditions.

PM - 25 minutes, Northampton. Instead of running along the rail trail I decided to pay a visit to Smith's track with vague notions of running barefoot in the grass. As it turns out it was the softest thickest grass I've seen in a long time and it was a pleasure to do some light jogging and drills. Humidity building through the afternoon to disgusting levels, with big thunderclouds bearing down.
