2/9/17

Wed 2/8 - PM 60 minutes easy

Old Mill to 117 then west to Hastings and back via Summerhill. Original plan was to tack on another session on the trainer as well but I realized soon after starting that I didn't have that in the tank today. Easy putter throughout instead. Much warmer day after yesterday's snow, with a lot more snow in the forecast for tomorrow.

Tue 2/7 - PM 40 minutes treadmill plus 30 minutes elliptigo trainer

Gross weather conditions and the typical weekday late start led to a fully indoor session for the day. Progressed from 7-9 mph on the treadmill, in two 20 minute segments with a break in between for water. Then down to the basement for more time on the elliptical. Overall the intensity today was higher than in previous days, not saying much however.

Mon 2/6 - PM 50 minutes easy plus 30 minutes elliptigo

Putter around the north end of Maynard, like yesterday with a fair number of stops for scrounging. Tired as usual. Took a long while to get going, also as usual. Included the highest gear on the elliptical ride, definitely some resistance but not quite as challenging as I had thought it would be.

Sun 2/5 - 60 minutes plus 30 minutes elliptigo trainer

An hour that took a lot longer than that to complete with many stops as I wandered around the Old Mill/Powdermill/Stratus area. Slow moving at all times. Elliptigo ride was at a higher intensity, cycling through the higher end of the gear train.

Sat 2/4 - 50 minutes plus 30 minutes elliptigo trainer

First run in a week, somewhat forced for much of the time. Right hamstring mobility not near 100% or what passes for it nowadays, right calf also screwed up tight as a drum. In desperate need of flexibility work on the entire torqued up posterior chain. Somewhat concerned about how the leg would take to the trainer but it was smooth sailing there, felt better than the run portion.

Sun 1/29 - Fri 2/3 off

A much needed break. Took a few days for the hamstring to heal sufficiently that I wasn't kneeling down on one leg to pick things up, untie shoes, etc. Feeling much better by the end of the workweek, although the downtime did nothing to change the pattern of spending far too long in bed each afternoon upon getting home from work. Went for walks around town each evening, which was nice but got old fast. I had considered taking a longer break but got bored and missing the structure of the day's workout.
