Fri 7/27 - PM 45 minutes plus 20 minutes in Walden

Shorter day to try and recharge a bit, not a moment too soon. Afternoon naps have been too long this week and leaving me unable to get to sleep at night. This was particularly pronounced last night and left me frazzled after lunchtime today. The cycle gets increasingly vicious. Still nursing the disappointment of yesterday's race being postponed, however ill-prepared I might have been for it. In hindsight postponement was completely unnecessary as the weather in these parts was nothing worth fretting about, and what there was didn't arrive until well after the race would have been over. Sour grapes I suppose. Sticky as usual but with the overcast not too hot. Very few people at the pond thanks to the clouds and lower temp. Did drills on Pine Hill as well, ankle/heel feeling stiff on both sides to varying degrees but other than that felt productive.

Thu 7/26 - PM 80 minutes plus 20 minutes in Walden

Not the run I had planned, as the Harborthon was postponed due to an ominous forecast. A forecast that didn't come close to the tornadic apocalypse that was predicted, of course. Instead it was just a return to humidity with mixed overcast. At least the pond was mostly devoid of tourists, almost spookily so since it was a perfectly good day to visit the place. Might not have done so hot in the race had it happened, as yesterday's run was indeed maybe a bit too much for the day before a harder effort. As such started out today very slowly, still waking up for the first 15 minutes or so from the much-needed pre-run nap. Eventually got going a little bit just before the dip in the water, but then after that it was back to mostly shuffling the rest of the way in. No energy for anything else.

Wed 7/25 - PM 95 minutes plus 18 minutes in Walden

A little longer and a little harder than I probably should have gone, all told. Got a little ahead of myself on both counts, realized maybe I had gone too far after it was too late to do anything about it. Near perfect weather a contributing factor, great day to be outside without the oppressive weight of the usual humidity. Calf twinging a bit at the start of the run but nothing doing as usual.

Tue 7/24 - PM 75 minutes easy plus 16 minutes in Walden

Tired today, unsurprisingly after getting to bed too late last night. Took a good long while to get going once out on the trail. Had thoughts of going around Farrar Pond but quickly realized this would take too long at the pace I was going. Eventually moving a little better but never blazing by any stretch of the imagination. Fairly nice day, still kind of sticky but not too hot.

Mon 7/23 - PM 45 minutes plus 15 minutes in Walden

Only had time for a shorter run, although I was able to fit in drills on Pine Hill as well. As has been the case previously, left heel feels tight and pinched while doing this but other than that nothing major. Some stiffness in right calf later. Overall moving relatively quickly, shorter duration allowed for that. Also did some short pickups on the way in. Warm day, stickier than I thought it would be after enjoying nice conditions in the morning.

Sun 7/22 - PM 85 minutes plus 20 minutes in Walden

Planned on going longer, as much as I could get in after taking forever to get going during the day. What with trips into the city each of the past 3 days, feeling a bit exhausted.

Sat 7/21 - PM 70 minutes plus 15 minutes in Walden

Quicker paced run than yesterday, brought the pace down gradually but consistently throughout. I had vague plans of doing it in the morning but that wasn't happening after sleeping in and dealing with a logjam of errands. Had to cut the dip in the pond a bit short to make it in time for yet another social call in the city. Warm, sunny and dry, with a decent breeze. A million times better than the weather that started the week.
