Sat 4/26 - AM 55 minutes easy

Buffalo Park, there and back with a loop of the grounds. Quads still stiff of course, but they feel more like Thursday than yesterday. Last run in FLG for a while. A bit warmer but still windy.

Fri 4/25 - double, 1:45 total

AM - 80 minutes easy, Campbell Point trailhead to Fisher Point and back via FR 301. DOMS in full effect with the quads from Wednesday's trip down the canyon, pretty much unable to run on any kind of downhills of any notable slope. Flat and up are okay however. Unlike yesterday I didn't get lost which was gratifying. Windy, like it's been all week.

PM - 25 minutes easy jog barefoot, around a ballfield at Sedona HS. The flat, relatively soft surface was just what my beleaguered quads needed at this point. Shakeout jog so I could get a decent stretch in afterwards. Warmer at the lower elevations which is nice.

Thu 4/24 - AM 1:40 easy

AZ trail to S. Lake Mary Rd., back via Lone Tree. Planned on going 20-30 minutes shorter, but missed my exit off the AZ trail and ended up taking the long way back. To say the least. Quads quite sore from yesterday, feeling it especially on downhills but not as bad as I thought otherwise. Wind blowing ferociously as it seems to from sunrise to sunset every day here at this time of year. By the end of the run I'd had about enough.

Wed 4/23 - AM 150 minutes, Grand Canyon

Ran the reverse route of last October's run through the canyon, i.e. S. Kaibab to the river and back up Bright Angel. Ran for two and a half hours of the roughly 3:45 that it took, with the rest of the time spent either taking a break or walking. Just under an hour to get from the trailhead to the black suspension bridge. Longest stop at Bright Angel creek. The walking breaks got more numerous as I approached the top, esp. in the last 3 miles, but I was able to polish off the last 3/4 mile or so running. Better prepared this time plus no following behind slow-moving mule trains on the way down made for a more satisfying effort. The flip side of being able to run all the way down the S. Kaibab is that it's a jarring experience to say the least and destroyed my quads utterly. It will take a while to recover.

Tue 4/22 - double, 1:35 total

AM - 45 minutes easy, Campbell Mesa. Took it slow but not as slow as past runs on this loop. Feeling somewhat lethargic

PM - 50 minutes mostly easy. Warmed up for a planned workout, but decided it would be pointless to go through with it due to continued tired flat feeling. Without a doubt the travel yesterday and long days on the weekend had something to do with it. Also not keen at all on trying anything timed at 7,000 feet, and not motivated enough to drive to lower elevations (i.e. Sedona) to do it there. Decided to save the effort for tomorrow.

Mon 4/21 - PM 70 minutes, Buffalo Park

Back in FLG after a day's travel. Things are much as I remembered from last fall although the strong wind made it chillier than I would have liked. Not quite as hypoxic as I had expected either. Right leg not as problematic today despite all the time spent sitting and driving. Overall tired at the end of the day, what with a long couple of days leading up to this one.

Sun 4/20 - double, 100 minutes total

AM - 35 minutes, Coolidge Corner to the far end of the Mass Ave. Bridge to watch the women's trials race. Right hip area as stiff and sore as I expected it to be. Spent the next 4+ hours gallivanting around the course and then the marathon expo before jogging back to Coolidge from Hynes.

PM - 65 minutes, Walden woods. Legs still a bit sore but nowhere near as stiff. Flying without the plane at the moment, as such got it moving towards the end of the run. Cool all day today with a persistent easterly breeze.
