Fri 8/2 - PM 70 minutes easy plus 20 minutes in Walden

Lincoln woods, with drills on Pine Hill. Last run before the big trip out west, very similar to many runs of late. Slow moving to start thanks to being tired from the overextended daily schedule of late. Very modest increase in the pace over time but not to an extensive degree. Right glute/hammie felt somewhat stuck doing the drills, to the degree that I rolled on the lax ball afterward. As usual, it felt much better for it at least temporarily. Right foot also stiff in the metacarpals, not exactly sure why but possibly from lugging things around at work. Rain overnight gave way to a nice day, sunny and relatively dry.

Thu 8/1 - PM 55 minutes easy plus 20 minutes in Walden

Lincoln woods. Started from the Sudbury River boat launch as I was coming from a pre-vacation shopping trip. Ran more or less directly to the base of Pine Hill where I was going to do a set of drills, but decided on the fly to put that off until tomorrow given a somewhat late start. The usual underlying fatigue thanks to what has become a firmly entrenched too-late bedtime, in that respect the vacation can't get here fast enough. Tried to do something of a windup on the way in, as much as the uneven terrain would allow. Right hammie somewhat sore, it's been worse and better of late. Overcast day with passing bouts of drizzle which was effective tourist repellent as usual.

Wed 7/31 - PM 75 minutes plus 20 minutes in Walden

Lincoln woods. Quite tired from yesterday's long day, started slowly as a result. Pace more or less stayed there in fact. Short pickups on the way in, right leg a bit more stiff than on Monday. Another sparkler of a day, sunny and dry.

Tue 7/30 - PM 80 minutes plus 15 minutes in Walden

Lincoln woods. No nap before the run today, which I think explains why it felt for the first few minutes I felt pretty spry. Soon enough that went by the wayside and the pace sagged to a putter. Took a trip up to Devil's Staircase, some tightness in the right ankle on the steepest sections of that climb. Had to cut the dip in the pond short to make it to the Tuesday bike ride, on the Battle Road this time. Delightful weather conditions, dry and sunny.

Mon 7/29 - PM 50 minutes easy plus 20 minutes in Walden

Lincoln woods, plus drills on Pine Hill. Lowering the volume after the weekend. Some soreness in the right quad from the downhill pounding of yesterday but overall less sore than I expected, esp. in the usual trouble spots. Very nice day, warm but not too humid despite some nearby t-storms that were rolling through but not close enough to keep me out of the water.

Sun 7/28 - AM 2:10

Northfield/Winchester, starting with a run up and across the NMH ridge, then on to Burt Hill followed by the Schofield Mtn. loop before heading up Bolton Road to the TV tower. First foray beyond the 2 hour mark of the summer and not coincidentally first time up Schofield Mtn. road this summer as well. Much better overall than previous Sunday runs in this locale, with better conditions having a fair amount to do with it. Brief stop at around 45 minutes and a much longer break at around 80 to soak in the Ashuelot at the covered bridge. I was quickly reminded why I'd been avoiding Schofield loop, long grinding climb up to Beau Mont and then thudding down the other side. Moving relatively well up the final ascent and felt like I was running within myself, if only just. Not a lot of issues from the right leg, not that the pace ever got to the point where it was problematic anyway.

Sat 7/27 - double, 1:35 total

AM - 65 minutes, Northfield. Dickinson Library to Crag Mtn, the same run as a fortnight ago with the same long break at Hobo Falls. Felt a bit awkward at the start vis a vis the right leg but after 15-20 minutes things seemed to smooth out. Right hammie/glute still tight and sore though. Conditions more favorable this time, still warm but drier with clear skies.

PM - 30 minutes, Norwottuck RT. Started from the shopping center this time, moving better from the start compared to two weeks ago. Felt relatively smooth even.
