Fri 3/27 - PM 80 minutes easy

Evening ramble around Area 51, distinguished mainly by my right adductor feeling like garbage the entire time. Not at all surprising, but disappointing nonetheless. Various stops, icluding a five minute break near the end to watch the woodcock display. Overcast conditions early in the day gave way to afternoon sun and things warmed right up as a result.

Tu 3/26 - PM 80 minutes

Track Road to Area 51 via Sudbury Rd. Got home tired, surprisingly so, brief nap was restorative but ideally wouldn't be needed in the first place. Moving better from the get-go today, although adductor is of course still inflamed, enough so that doing strides was not an option. Showers rolling in as I was out there, finished up before the worst of it. Overcast and relatively mild conditions all day.

Wed 3/25 - PM 70 minutes very easy to easy

Active recovery around Wellesley, incl. a nice stretch along the aqueduct and shore of Morse's Pond. Right thigh was about what I expected it to be, i.e. very stiff and sore at the start and only slightly less so by the end. Still, it could have been worse. Warer today but the northerly wind persists as it has since Monday, only more like a breeze today.

Tue 3/24 - PM RLTAC 70 minutes incl. 6x800

Sore, strained adductor dominated everything tonight and in fact forced me to stop after 6 reps of a possible 8. A bummer to be sure, not that it's any surprise as I haven't let it recover since straining it 10 days ago on the icy trails when it was already in a vulnerable state to begin with. Splits as follows:

2:26.0
2:25.2
2:23.9
2:24.5
2:25.1
2:21.9

2.5 minute recoveries. I had hoped to start around 2:26 and get faster from there, instead it kind of stalled out around 2:24 until the last one. No real progression to the pacing, alas. Pace was manageable although I was starting to get tired. Hobbling on my right hip didn't help in that regard either. Did some direct pressure on psoas and high hamstring areas afterwards, but I'm not looking forward to how it's going to feel tomorrow.

Mon 3/23 - PM 70 minutes

Wellesley, aqueduct to Elm Bank and back via Winding River Rd. Moving better than yesterday, despite lingering soreness in adductor from quad to hip which was noticeable during the day at work as well. The day was most noteworthy for the cold temps and hideous wind chill, really obnoxious stuff. Picked up the pace near the end mainly to get the run over with and come in from the cold. Didn't sleep especially well last night thanks to Sunday afternoon's nap, as a result feeling somewhat lethargic all day.

Sun 3/22 - AM 95 minutes very easy/easy

Morning putter around Area 51. About what I expected after yesterday. Right VMO tendinitis quite sore at the start, adductor could have been worse, could have been better. Run ended up going longer than expected, more a result of the slow slow pace for most of it. I had thought about doubling today but decided against it, went and watched the woodcocks instead.

Sat 3/21 - double, 2:10 total

AM - 70 minutes very easy/easy, Lincoln woods. 6 strides in the parking lot at the end. Puttering along most of the way which was fine with me. Turns out the pace can be reasonable running with HS kids, it just depends on which gender. I should have known. Right thigh felt terrible doing the strides, apparently last night's strides didn't treat the area well at all. Chilly start to the morning but warming up rapidly by the end of the run.

PM - 60 minutes, Longfellow loop incl. 20 and 15 minute threshold runs with 5 minutes recovery. Optimistically planned on doing 2x20 minutes again, ran out of gas on the second one though. Something I thought might happen going in given the less than ideal rest last night coming on the heels of a long week and the morning run as well. Tried to make the efforts progress, this worked better the first rep than the second though. Desire to get something of substance in today rather than tomorrow trumped all that. Leg held up better than in the morning except for some downhill stretches where it didn't fare so well.
