Wed 2/17 - PM 50 minutes easy

Tiger Drive to outskirts of Longfellow loop. Original plan was to do some kind of workout today but it simply wouldn't be happening. Apparently Monday's treadmill effort left a lot more of a mark than I thought coming on the heels of Sunday's failure on the track. Ugh.

Tue 2/16 - PM 60 minutes very easy

Levittown to Summerhill. Not feeling especially spry or energetic, some of which is down to yesterday's run I suppose.  Cold snap ended definitively with temperatures about 30 degrees warmer than yesterday which was a nice change of pace.

Mon 2/15 - AM 90 minutes

50 minutes very easy with the CH, from Summerhill to White Pond and back via Track Road before puttering around downtown for a time. At this point I was sufficiently sick of the subfreezing temps that I decided to head inside and do the next 40 minutes on the treadmill. That portion started at 6 mph and ended at 10, ticking the speed up a tenth every minute along the way. As expected the last 10 minutes were something of a grind and the last 5 even more so. The closest I've come to a long run in a good while.

Sun 2/14 - 35 minutes incl. track DNF

The unexpected bonus race turned out not to be such a bonus. Hoping to have a couple (literally 2) guys to run with but they didn't show which left me all alone at the back of the train. Unhitched by the end of the second lap and it snowballed from there. Very lonely place to be, particularly in front of a paying audience. When I found myself thinking about dropping after passing halfway I realized the plug had to be pulled. No trackside clock or even anyone reading out splits, which left me flying blind. In a tightly packed bunch that wouldn't have been so much a problem, just stay tucked in, but being spalled off the back I felt like I was going slower and slower. In fact, after looking at video of the race I ran each lap within a few tenths of 35 seconds. In fact had I hung in there I might have run a SB, light years behind everyone else of course. No desire for the pity clap however. Not wrung out in the least just incapable of maintaining anything resembling contact. At least I got to watch the rest of the meet, although it was a fairly dull affair. Warmup outside was longer than expected and led to a very compressed set of drills and strides ahead of the race itself. Cooldown was five minutes tops jogging around the gym. Looks like I "peaked" for the indoor season two weeks ago, if I ever did. Coldest day yet in the recent cold snap.

Sat 2/13 - AM 35 minutes

Levittown with a few brief pickups on the way in. Pressed for time which made for a short run. Bitter cold continues. Spent the rest of the day in the city with the CH.
