Fri 3/6 - AM 80 minutes

to and from doctor appt. at Emerson, along the charmless stretch of rt 62 running through East Maynard. Took a while to get loose but moving fairly well the last 15 minutes of the trip out and most of the trip back. Milder temps today but not as mild as I was hoping, SW winds gusting all morning.

Thu 3/5 - PM 60 minutes easy

Levittown to Summerhill, back via Main Street. Moving better than yesterday which isn't saying much. Warmer than yesterday, also not saying much, and still abnormally cold even for early March. Not that the average is a regular occurrence. Lower back sore on the right side, no surprise, related to the various strains and sorenesses on that side.

Wed 3/4 - PM 75 minutes very easy

Active recovery all the way. Tiger Drive to Longfellow loop, pace progressed ever so gradually from the initial crawl to the final shuffle. Much of the pace increase the last 15 minutes was spurred by the miserable wind and cold, face and hands not sufficiently covered and I should have known better. The recent cold spell has been very trying to say the least. Right adductor quite sore to start, got a little better with time. IT band stiff as well today after last night's workout.

Tue 3/3 - PM RLTAC 60 minutes incl. 6x1200

Brief 15 minute warmup indoors, half-assed and half-completed set of drills, then the 1200s with a minute rest:

3:50.4
3:48.0
3:48.8
3:46.9
3:45.7
3:43.9

each of them run even-paced for the most part as I was running with a group this time. The times did progress from rep to rep though. I had my heart set on 8 but ran them too fast to be able to pull it off w/o getting into desperate straits with recoveries this short. Although I may have been able to do one more in the 3:42-3 range, it would have taken a lot out of me. Biggest concern going in was how the right hip would hold up, definitely seems like a stuck psoas/adductor thing. With a little TLC just before starting out it held up well enough but was sore as hell on the cooldown, which was very slow as a result. Right shin sore afterwards, why not. Bitterly cold all day esp. for this time of year, not that I noticed or cared today as every step was done inside.

Mon 3/2 - double, 75 minutes total

AM - 30 minutes on the treadmill, 4 miles. 7 to 9 mph. Not about to go outside as the storm is winding down but still dumping snow. Right leg has felt worse of late, but it certainly could feel better too.

PM - 45 minutes in Levittown. Footing far from ideal, side streets are plowed but not even close to the pavement. Some spots more packed than others, slipping more than I would like. After multiple rounds of shoveling during the day my energy level wasn't the greatest, as such I had to relax the intensity somewhat.

Sun 3/1 - double, 1:45 total

AM - 65 minutes easy, Tiger Drive to Longfellow Loop. Slightly different route than yesterday morning's run but the same general idea, kept it relaxed throughout. Ill wind blowing, light snow showers but nothing like what's predicted for overnight into tomorrow.

PM - 40 minutes, Summerhill to Levittown. Moving fairly well, decided to try doing strides near the end to see how the right hip/thigh would hold up. It wasn't a complete success but some post-run direct pressure on the problem area has me optimistic about how it'll be in the long term.

Sat 2/28 - double, 1:45 total

AM - 60 minutes easy, Tiger Drive to Longfellow loop. Typical easy AM run, but not as stiff as usual lately thankfully. Last night's warm rainy conditions swept out by a strong NW wind this morning.

PM - 45 minutes in Brookline/Allston. Felt pretty good to start, then wilted somewhat around the 20 minute mark. Took it easy for a bit and feeling sufficiently refreshed, I hammered the last 7 minutes as a mini-progression. Pace overall was much faster than the morning run, no great news there. Right leg remains inflamed but it was bothering less on this run than it has all week. Chilly with a brisk wind throughout.
