Fri 3/26 - PM 65 minutes easy

to and from Elm Bank with a 20+ minute meandering, stop and start filled run around the loop there. Felt utterly lethargic and useless, full-on exhausted. It shouldn't have been the least bit surprising and yet I was surprised, I had planned on doing 8-10 200m pickups but that ended after the third one. Need to sleep more, only 10 more weeks of coaching track so that should be a cinch. Unseasonably cold with a brisk north wind all day.

Thu 3/25 - PM 60 minutes easy

Two 30 minute easy runs with a 30 minute break, thanks to a track meeting. Puttering around Wellesley, quite relaxed. Feeling some dings after yesterday. Milder temps, nice conditions in fact.

Wed 3/24 - PM 65 minutes incl. 12k threshold run

Back to what is becoming the old reliable of workouts. Time tightly budgeted due to various appointments, this was the only session I saw myself being able to accomplish in the slot available. Dragging yet again at work, not sleeping enough for how much the coaching schedule is currently taking out of me, but with two cups of tea mid-morning I was alert enough to put forth the effort. Splits as follows:

6:05/6:05/2:56
5:57/5:54/2:50
5:48/5:53/2:49

The first loop represented a continuation of the warmup more or less. Didn't feel like I was forcing it at all from 4 to 6k, tried to open up the stride a bit after that. The wind went from annoying to downright obnoxious, mainly from the NNW but swirling enough that it hit me from all directions it seemed. The sustained velocity picked up over the course of the workout and there were some huge gusts in the last 10 minutes with road sand being blown in my eyes. Happy to stop and head on in at the end of the third lap. Some airway irritation afterward but not to the same extent as last Friday.

Tue 3/23 - PM 60 minutes

Area 51. Feeling more energetic than yesterday but still aware of some underlying tiredness. For the second day in a row, thought better of going into town for a workout after kiddie practice, went directly home instead to ensure an earlier bedtime. Finished at a relatively decent pace but had to check myself a couple of times before that during the run. Dismal conditions, rain pretty much all day which subsided somewhat before the run and then came back while I was out there. Ill wind blowing as well made for a forgettable experience, soaked by the end.

Mon 3/22 - PM 50 minutes easy

Area 51. I had hoped to do a leg prep workout today but it wasn't happening, too tired after a stretch of not sleeping enough. Legs feeling fine but the rest of me is on the verge of being exhausted. Got in a decent stretching session after the run which had been missing over the weekend. Raw day with some rain and an ill breeze blowing. More to come tomorrow.

Sun 3/21 - double, 70 minutes total

AM - 30 minutes easy, although not quite easy enough, along the Charles with my sister. She dragged me out quicker than I would have liked the first 10 minutes after that things settled down. A short pre-brunch shakeout. Easterly breeze on the riverbank, what else is new.

PM - 40 minutes, Area 51. Took a half hour or so break in the middle of the run for the first timberdoodle sighting of the season. This took longer than I had expected and cut short the length of the run overall, but they did finally get busy. Peents all over the place. Exhaustion sunk in this afternoon, desperately tired by mid-afternoon.

Sat 3/20 - AM 80 minutes easy/very easy

Tooling around Lincoln woods with the kiddies. No desire to force the pace after yesterday's workout, so the pace stayed quite relaxed. A few pickups in the 45-60 second range near the end. Last of the unseasonably warm days, chilly start but the temp rose rapidly as the morning wore on.
