Wellesley College track. Tired but also feeling vaguely manic and past exhaustion, it will come crashing down eventually. But not this evening. Alternated direction on each rep. Got crushed by the NNW wind each and every lap of course. Effort was relaxed, controlled, and meted out in precise amounts. Pace quite underwhelming of course, but I'm pleased to be able to do workouts of any type again. Splits:
5:59
5:58.2
5:56.5
5:53.3
5:48.7
Cooldown was quite mellow. Legs held up well to all the laps, although left ankle was mysteriously sore afterwards.

Thu 2/11 - PM 75 minutes
To Elm Bank via Brook Path and rt. 16, back via Pond Street and 135. Very easy at first, pace remained a dawdle for the first 45 minutes. Realized at that point I needed to pick it up a bit to make it back to the school in time and proceeded to get progressively faster over the last half hour, got going pretty good near the end. Very stiff and sore at the outset, figured I would be crawling the entire way but the switch was flipped with relative ease. Just needed a bit of a warmup. No time to stretch thanks to useless last-minute HS track meet.

Wed 2/10 - off
the much-hyped snowstorm didn't happen, but even so, unable to get out the door or on the treadmill. Got home from work early and promptly fell into a deep sleep. The past 2+ weeks of going every day with coaching has caught up to me. Woke up in a fog and then got to spend the next two hours on the phone tying up loose ends of the clusterfrak of a cancelled meet that in hindsight of course, never should have been cancelled. Thanks to the BSC ADs for that one. Now I get to waste the major chunk of my evening tomorrow on a useless makeup meet as well. Not bitter at all. LG/quad attachment tight and sore, an unwelcome surprise, but I should have known it would be an issue, DOMS from Monday.

Tue 2/9 - PM 80 minutes easy
TJ's round trip, more of a slog than I was expecting but I should have expected it. Some stiffness in left iliopsoas but nothing major. Low energy level, lower than I expected.

Mon 2/8 - PM 65 minutes incl. 5 miles in 31:36
Longfellow loop. 20 minute warmup, drills, then two laps of this loop at what is hopefully a bit slower than LT pace. Planned on a cutdown run on the track originally, but decided I had run enough laps on the track recently plus it was quite windy all day, although it let up somewhat by the time I ran. Very approximate mile/mile/800 splits for each lap of 6:30/6:23/3:17, then 6:13/6:10/3:03. Second lap was definitely more of an effort but still felt relaxed, able to bring it down a few notches the last 400 relatively easily. Legs held up well, right adductor a bit tight but it's come a long long way. No issues from left SI joint. Short cooldown as it was getting late.

Sun 2/7 - AM 90 minutes
River Street to Mt. Hope, back via White Pond Road and 117/62. Mostly mellow effort although the pace picked up a bit the last 15 minutes. Right adductor tight and a bit sore. Cold morning with a fairly strong wind chill.
