AM - 40 minutes very easy. After getting started later than I'd like, took a meandering route up Waltham Street to route 117, heading back on 27. Not a very long loop at all but moving quite slowly throughout and some backtracking as well. Many stops. Not very motivated is an understatement, feeling the blahs from the weekend's efforts.
PM - 30 minutes incl. 3x150, 3x30 on the track. More speed development, with some easy jogging to warm up and a very brief cooldown jog. Some trepidation about how my legs would hold up to this but no issues that I could tell. Left SI joint responded well to some rolling yesterday evening. Cold but not as windy as this morning.

Sun 1/15 - double, 75 minutes easy plus 30 minutes elliptigo trainer
AM - 75 minutes easy, Walden woods. With the lack of snow on the ground I felt compelled to take advantage of an opportunity to run the trails again. Not as satisfying in the dead of winter but still better than most other options. Pond looks lower than ever. Left SI joint area somewhat stiff along with calves from yesterday.
PM - 30 minutes, elliptigo trainer. Took forever to get this short spin on the trainer started, but not something I was prepared to give up on as I have in the recent past.

Sat 1/14 - PM 60 minutes incl. track mile
Modest improvement over the immodest indoor debut of two weeks ago. Still unsatisfying as the time was terrible and the second half was a good deal slower than the first. First three laps went by in close to 1:45 and I thought I might be in line for a solid effort but the next three laps were garbage, sliding back from 36 point to 38 for the sixth lap. Rallied a bit to close but I was trying just to limit the damage and dip under 4:50 by that point, which I failed to do. First half in just under 2:22, second half in just over 2:29. Ugh. Feeling somewhat flat from the moment I woke up from a less than restful sleep. Certainly, this dud was at least a few days in the making. Being too tired to get out of bed yesterday afternoon not a great sign in hindsight.
Fri 1/13 - off
Wiped out from the week's endeavors, meager as they seem. Napped far too late for even a cursory jog or spin on the trainer. Disappointing to say the least, not totally surprising after having some difficulty getting to sleep last night.
Thu 1/12 - PM 90 minutes easy
Summer Street to Lower Village, from there on to Area 51 via White Pond Road. Through the refuge and back via Old Marlboro and route 27. Not an especially long run but took a long time due to slow pace and many stops. Warm enough for shorts, in fact the balmy conditions fairly demanded it. Out there for too long frankly, not that tired but the time on my feet not exactly what I needed on this particular day. Plus it pushed all the evening chores back some.

Wed 1/11 - PM 70 minutes incl. 3(5x400)
Went through with the session originally planned for this day, even though I changed my mind earlier in the afternoon and right up to the first repeat had plans to do something less daunting. The punishingly short rest of 30 seconds after each rep on the final set is what scared me off initially. Further complicating the issue was that the splits got to a level that seemed unsustainable on the second set (45 second recoveries). In the end though I was able to get through it keeping a relatively consistent level throughout. I did have the distinct sense that going much faster, even on the first set when the pace was nothing to write home about, would have required far too much effort. Splits:
Set 1 (60 seconds recovery): 78.0, 78.7, 77.3, 76.9, 77.5
4R
Set 2 (45 seconds recovery): 76.2, 76.3, 75.5, 75.6, 75.9
4R
Set 3 (30 seconds recovery); 75.9, 76.1, 75.8, 76.3, 75.1

Tue 1/10 - PM 25 minutes easy plus 15 minutes elliptigo trainer
Ill-advised decision to go outside in the evening, as the cold weather of recent days was starting to give way to warmer temps. In the interim, freezing rain and black ice everywhere. Slipped and slid around, taking longer than it should have to realize that maybe sticking to indoor options would be a better move. Got back but had lost most of my motivation to do anything, plus as usual it was a late start so I cut the trainer time short. Not a banner day all told. Warmer weather to come the only reward.
