Fri 8/5 - PM 75 minutes plus 20 minutes in Walden

Lincoln woods. Moving a lot quicker today than Wednesday, though still feeling some dings from Tuesday. Not suprisingly. The dip in the pond was quite refreshing as the conditions were on the warm side.

Thu 8/4 - PM 65 minutes elliptigo plus 16 minutes in Walden

The workout I wanted to do yesterday. A bit pressed for time but otherwise an enjoyable experience.

Wed 8/3 - PM 50 minutes very easy plus 20 minutes in Walden

Lincoln woods. I would have liked to ride the elliptigo instead of running today but it wasn't in the cards. Movng glacially slow as expected. Right calf and lower leg, which held up reasonably well to the insult of yesterday's effort, a bit cranky today.

Tue 8/2 - PM 70 minutes incl. 10 mile road race

Summer of Suck continues. Decided last week that I could handle an event of this duration and do it in 58-59 minutes given favorable conditions. While the weather indeed held and was reasonably dry and not too hot for this time of year, I overestimated my fitness substantially. Ran the first mile too quickly in 5:40, the next one in 5:50, and the next three in an average of 5:55 or so. This was the first indication that things might go sideways as those three miles were relatively flat. Sixth mile trended up and just as I was starting to struggle with that two guys who were obviously at least as old as me cruised on by looking like a million bucks. Last two miles went in 12:45 which is almost two minutes slower than the same stretch went the last time I did this race four years ago. Once the effort pushed back I crumbled to put it bluntly. Tired and flat is no way to go through life.

Mon 8/1 - PM 75 minutes elliptigo

Meandering easy ride around S. Acton and Stow. Cool enough that visiting the pond wasn't an appealing option. Trying to lay low before tomorrow's long hard effort, combined with feeling distinctly low energy it made for a very pokey ride with lots of stops.

Sun 7/31 - AM 2 hours very easy

What passes for a long run these days. Pathetic effort that took forever to get started, saved by overcast and showers that kept the temperature down 20+ degrees lower than what it has been of late. Puttered around Concord Center then puttered around Walden. In the last 30 minutes the pace maybe, perhaps, progressed beyond a shuffle but other than that it was hobbyjogging. Incapable of doing anything resembling decent training at the moment, dug myself into a hole. As usual lack of decent sleep is the root cause and I'm doing little to nothing about it.

Sat 7/30 - PM 25 minutes plus 60 minutes elliptigo plus 16 minutes in Walden

Scaled back/avoided doing anything of substance in favor of repeating what I had done yesterday more or less. Baleful heat and humidity not helping but more importantly I continue to feel fried in general. Going through the motions.
