AM - 1:40, Northfield. Rollercoaster ride from the library to the top of South Mountain road, with a side trip up and over Birch Point and along the powerlines to start things off. The idea was to maximize climbing and in that respect the run was a success. Held a bit back early on so as to have something left for the final push up Old Wendell, which was just as rugged and rocky as I had remembered it. Steady rain shower at the start of the run, by the time I got to the reservoir the skies were clearing and finished in sunny warm conditions.
PM - 25 minutes, Northampton. Instead of running along the rail trail I decided to pay a visit to Smith's track with vague notions of running barefoot in the grass. As it turns out it was the softest thickest grass I've seen in a long time and it was a pleasure to do some light jogging and drills. Humidity building through the afternoon to disgusting levels, with big thunderclouds bearing down.
