Sun 4/27 - AM 85 minutes incl. 5k/10k double

Slept poorly after a day of hectic travel, including very nearly getting stranded overnight in PHX. This combined with quads that felt like they were made of lead left me less than enthused about this long-planned double dip. Hoping to win the 5k with as little effort possible and do the 10k as a controlled effort and hope it would be enough to get an age-group prize. As it turns out, I was dusted by a 40+ Brit in the 5k and only two actual runners showed up for the 10k so I was able to coast to third place running 5:50 pace. Too tired and legs too stiff to get any kind of turnover going, mile splits of 5:10, 5:15, and 5:21. The 10k was quite relaxed, and quite enjoyable upon realizing after the mile mark that the last money spot would be mine. First two miles went in 5:45 each, the others all around 5:50. Picked up the effort a bit on the last uphill mile to keep it from being six minutes or slower and it went in the same 5:50 or so as the previous 3. Given how tired I felt the day was a success. Cooldown a 15 minute crawl on the rail trail. Quad soreness manageable during the races themselves but they stiffened up after finishing the 10k and were quite tender by the time I did the cooldown. Cool overcast day with an ill breeze blowing.
