9/19/16

Sun 9/11 - double, 60 minutes incl. 5k race, 40 minutes elliptigo and 15 minutes in Lake Cochituate

AM - 60 minutes incl. 5k. Another early wakeup call, this time heading into the city and on the ferry to Peddocks Island. Had enough time to run the loop we then ran in the race twice. Dripping with sweat as the humidity was ridiculous even if the temperature wasn't sky high. Threatening clouds let loose 3 minutes into the race with a cloudburst that at the very least cooled things off. Very windy as well. These things, plus a twisty windy two-loop course that I seriously doubt was actually 5k, made for an exceedingly slow time. Not that I cared. Cooldown was a leisurely extended affair checking out the rest of the island before being hustled back to shore.

PM - 40 minutes elliptigo arc plus 15 minutes in Lake Cochituate. After spending a chunk of the afternoon hacking weeds and downed trees, took a roundabout route to the lake on the dork bike and went aquajogging in some of the choppiest waters I can remember dealing with. The wind scoured out most of the gross sticky air from the morning leaving a much nicer if turbulent afteroon.

Sat 9/10 - 60 minutes elliptigo plus 15 minutes in Lake Boon

After spending the morning at Maudslay Park in Newburyport watching other people run got home bone tired. Got on the road eventually but later than I would have wanted, making the return trip a somewhat fraught affair in gathering darkness. Took the longer way to the lake, via route 27 and Hudson road, coming back via Fairbank.

Fri 9/9 - 55 minutes easy plus 20 minutes in Walden

Lincoln woods. I had planned on hopefully doing something of higher intensity today but it wasn't to be, far too tired by the end of the day. Wound up running to the pond, having a dip and then heading back. Wound up to an obnoxious level of mania by the various coaching obligations weighing on my fragile mind.

Thu 9/8 - PM 60 minutes elliptigo arc

Wayland. Took my turn on the dork bike after the kiddies had theirs. Thought I would get into the lake but it wasn't to be.

Wed 9/7 - PM 35 minutes easy

Squeezed in a quick run around the periphery of Area 51 between work and the first weekday afternoon meet of the season. Stiff and right quad tweaked from yesterday.

Tue 9/6 - PM 60 minutes incl. timed pickups

Wayland. Five sets of 3.5 minutes steady, minute jog, 30 seconds hard, minute jog. Felt pretty good all things considered. Disgustingly humid conditions have returned with a vengeance. Rolled right ankle on a tree root at one point, the aqueduct surface not as smooth as I had thought.

Mon 9/5 - PM 90 minutes elliptigo plus 15 minutes in Walden

Concord/Lincoln. Got on the dork bike at the end of a long day of traveling and unpacking. Still tired of course.
